Story of the OLD AGE HOMES

My mom and dad are always participating on cultural and social programs with their friends and we do support and be with them usually in their works. The group of my parents and their friends organize and perform Bhajans (song with religious theme or spiritual ideas) and cultural instrumental music and collects fund. And this time they decided to give some percent of fund to the old age homes and feed them one time lunch.

I as well as my two friends also participate for that work. While going through that process we saw many old peoples with very low strength and disease. We were so sorry for them to see them like that. But while having a little conversation with them as well as the care taker of that home we came to know that they were not only fighting with their disease but also the emotions that want to be attached with their offspring. In Nepal, we believe that it is responsibility of their sons to take care of their parents in their old age. So, old people who were staying there want to be with them as they were thinking this is their last stage of their life. Their words still pinch my heart,

“Fighting with disease is nothing but it’s hard to fight with my own offspring.”

Most of the people staying there are being paid by their sons. As they are out of the country and have no time to take care of parents they took them there to stay and send money every month. They believe staying alone may cause depression so they have left them there to stay with other old people.

Listening to both perspective

Both are right in their own way. Young people should work for economic growth of the family to fulfill their all needs. They all just can’t stay home and be with them. But on other side it is also necessary that parents who gave birth and made their existence in this world can’t just leave them when they need them the most.

What you people have a opinion on this topic??

One of the biggest bitter truth of our society. I believe no any excuse is worthy. When you were young even ur parents had to earn for their family but they didn't leave you alone. It's all about the priority. ☺

    1. All individuals should give first priority to their parents as they never put us on their second priority.

  5. No one is ever that busy who cannot give time to their own parents. Even though earning wealth and supporting their family financially is an important aspect of life but so is giving time to our parents.

    p.s great work rasne! :D

  6. Our parents provide us both their time and income to us when we need it. Why can't we do the same for them??It's so saddening.
